7th Annual First Coast Kids Triathlon
The 2015 First Coast Kids Triathlon was a huge success! SAE’s Active Kids team, as well as the Bridge team, had a great time and proved that training and hard work pay off. This year was even more exciting as Ian had the opportunity to participate in the triathlon as a “Big Kid”. He raced the course alongside SAE participants as well as his prior triathlon mentor and coach. All the triathletes made their way across the finish line in EverBank Field as their picture was cast across the big screen! SAE’s mentors were extremely busy throughout the weekend coaching and volunteering for the event and would like to thank all of the parents and volunteers who came out to support the athletes!

Team Jacob and the First Coast Kids Triathlon
Zoë had the opportunity to be a buddy for Jacob at the 2014 First Coast Kids Triathlon. “His smile truly never stopped…Jacob taught me that life has no limits and I am so incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to swim for him and get to know him. He is strong, hilarious, kind, and incredibly hard working. Go Team Jacob!” ~ Zoë
Celebrity Big Kid at the First Coast Kids Triathlon
Zoë was extremely busy this year working with the First Coast Kids Triathlon as a Celebrity Big Kid. She had the opportunity to meet with many of the athletes during packet pickup/pep rally day in the Celebrity Big Kid tent. In addition, Zoë had the opportunity to speak on stage with the participants. Zoë is the first Celebrity Big Kid to have participated in the First Coast Kids Triathlon. She won first place in 2009 in the 13 year old female division and third place in 2011 in the 15 year old female division.
“Waterproof Jacksonville”
SAE had a great day participating in Mayor Alvin Brown’s announcement to expand the countywide campaign “Waterproof Jacksonville” to prevent accidental drownings. Increased funding will allow the Waterproof program to reach youth who may not be able to afford swim lessons.

“Tri” for Kids Fundraising Event
What a great day! On June 29th, Setting an Example held a summer fundraiser to raise money for underserved kids in Jacksonville to participate in the upcoming Tri-Jax Challenge triathlon. The event was a great success and I want to thank everyone who came out and supported such a great cause. We gave away close to $2,000 in prizes that were donated by some very generous businesess and community leaders and had a one of a kind performance by the band Northe. (the band also handed out free copies of their CD which was great!). I know everyone was hoping to win the beach cruiser, but there can be only one winner and it went to a speacial Mom with two great kids!
Overall, fun was had by everyone from the face painting & crafts to the awesome music and great food. There are so many great pictures it was hard to only put a few up here. We shared the day with Zoë’s sunshine princesses from the Miss America program as well as some of her fellow outstanding teen title holders. It was a day we won’t soon forget!
